The toughness of the Huawei P30 is questionable

The toughness of the Huawei P30 is questionable – In the future, we will retest some of the high-end, mid-range and low-cost smartphones released last year. This tells you if it’s still worth buying in 2020, because Android phones that are a little older often price down and are therefore quite attractive.

We started with the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro, two flagships released by Chinese manufacturers about a year ago. Since then, a lot has happened around Huawei, and that also has an impact on the P30 phone. In this new review, we tell you all about it.

Design and Screen

Huawei P30 and P30 Pro still look sleek, which is mainly due to the striking color on the back. Both smartphones are completely made of glass and are therefore sensitive to scratches and finger spots, but we see them with newer Android phones. This phone is comfortable to hold and especially the normal P30 stands out in a positive sense.

This device is quite compact and far more practical than almost all other high-end Android phones today. This smartphone has a 6.1 inch screen which is relatively “small” and weighs 165 grams, making it much better to operate. The P30 Pro, with a 6.47 inch screen, has this far less and is far heavier at 192 grams.

P30 and P30 Pro have OLED screens and still look good and brightness is also good. The resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels isn’t too high and Android flagships now have a sharper screen, but it’s still more than enough.

Many high-end Android smartphones have screens with higher refresh rates (90 or 120Hz) by 2020, but this feature is not available on P30 phones. It’s not always annoying and the smartphone still feels smooth, but in this area the device has been overtaken.

Hardware and battery life are still good

Huawei P30 and P30 Pro are powered by Kirin 980 chips, which still ensure fast performance. The application starts quickly, multitasking is not a problem and the software runs smoothly. The fingerprint scanner, which is located below the screen, also does a good job. However, the scanner is rather slow, especially if you compare it to the fingerprint scanner below the screen of the newer top device.

Huawei P30 and P30 Pro appeared last year and are still widely available. Is it still worth buying one device in 2020, or is it better to choose another option? You can read it in this review update.
